The Wind That Shakes The Barley Review

Hi my dear friends! I’m here again like all Thursdays with a new post. I hope that you enjoy it!

Today I’m going to write about a film that we seen in the English class with the teacher Benjy. The name of this film is “The wind that shakes the barley”, directed by Ken Loach.

The film tells the story about the war between Ireland and United Kingdom for their independence and also, it is based in the case of two brothers: Damien and Teddy O’Donnovan.

Damien is a revolutionary and he is still fighting in the IRA (Irish Republican Army), but Teddy prefers to accept the agreement and leave the fight, so they will be fight in the Irish Civil War.

I liked this film a lot because I like when the films show war stories, and the story of the Irland and the IRA is very interesting. Besides, the film doesn’t have a happy ending, so it is different to the other movies.

My favorite character is Damien O’Donnovan, because he changed his idea of be a doctor at the service of the British, to be a revolutionary and fight for the people of his country.

My favorite scene is the last, when Teddy has to kill his brother Damien. Is very sad to see how he cry when he instructs the soldiers to shoot, but is an example of the civil war that the Irish must have fought.

Well, this is all for today. See you the next week for a new post. See you soon!
